Effective Selection and Implementing ERP Systems
Client: A global market leader in FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) with revenue in excess of $10 Billion.
Background: CCCs Client Company acquired another corporation and the CIO and VP of Shared Services asked CCC to help them decide which software vendor would best meet the ERP requirements for them. The acquired company had just completed a successful implementation of SAP for their one of their divisions. However, the parent corporation had already made a strategic choice to use a particular software vendor and was in the early stages of designing a new business process for one of their divisions, which would now include the acquired company.
The Process: CCCs, Frank Caccamo's first task was to convince the leadership that their decision was not which software to use, but rather how fast and efficiently they wanted to complete the project. They had not done a very good job of building the business case so the potential top and bottom line improvements weren't seen as significant as Frank knew they were. As a result, CCC needed to examine more than just the software, but the entire process first.
Implementing the Process: They hired Frank as the interim CIO for this division. This positioning (as a CCC Consultant) gave Frank access to the business and IT people. In this position he helped them build a clear business case and technology plan. This allowed them to move quickly to build on the acquired companys success they had implementing a solid ERP for their business.
Results: The Clients executive management decided to replace their CIO and VP of Shared Services. CCCs guidance helped them recognize that what they needed were people who had successful experiences implementing large ERP systems. They also used Frank as a consultant to further identify outside candidates who they hired to strengthen the IT leadership. As a result, he was able to move out of what turned out to be full time employment as interim CIO and back to his role as a CCC consultant for Business Transformation and Informatics.
Frank Caccamo has 33 years of experience with P&G, as Vice President of Global Management Systems. He was also the Vice President and CIO of Reynolds & Reynolds Company and has experience in IT, Finance & Brand Management. He is an expert on Business Transformation Systems.
